CHATHAM LIGHT NEAR NET ZERO HOUSE

The site is overlooking Chatham Harbor and Monomoy Island beyond. An existing derelict ranch cottage was demolished.  A3 Architects worked with the Owners to create a new 2-story Cape house that meets intensive requirements of the Town’s Conservation and Zoning by-laws as well as federal FEMA flood zone requirements.

The exterior is a mix of cedar shingles and horizonal siding with metal standing seam roofs with solar facing southwest.  The windows take advantage of views to the dune and beach beyond. The design is also net-zero energy ready with solar panels on the metal roof and enhanced insulation on the exterior walls and roof.

The playful interiors with fun pops of blue are inspired by the family’s love of the ocean and surfing.
